Join The Vanguard as we explore how biology and engineering are advancing medical innovation with Samuel Achilefu, Ph.D.
Recent advances are demonstrating how previously unimaginable ways of using science and math to solve biological and medical problems are making incredible strides. New approaches such as developing artificial tissues that can replace damaged tissue, using 3D printing to create artificial organs, and developing prosthetics that can be controlled by a person's brain are radically expanding our ideas of what is possible in the field of medicine. Dr. Achilefu will discuss the impact of biomedical engineering and research that is offering new promise.
Guests are also invited to enjoy a special access tour of the newly opened Texas Instruments Biomedical Engineering and Sciences Building, a 150,000-square-foot facility built in partnership with UT Dallas to accelerate the creation and application of medical technologies with the potential to change people's lives.
The Vanguard event series highlights medical research at UT Southwestern and provides a forum for champions of medical innovation. Registration is limited by invitation. To request an invitation, contact us.
