Gifts by Will or Trust
Bequests by friends, grateful patients, and alumni play an important role in ensuring
UT Southwestern’s financial strength. We can provide you, or your advisers, with the proper bequest language to ensure that your gift accomplishes what you intend.
Gifts of Retirement Assets
You can easily designate UT Southwestern as a beneficiary of all or part of your 401(k), IRA, or another qualified plan. Simply obtain a Designation of Beneficiary Form from your retirement plan administrator and complete as directed. Because distributions from retirement plans may be subject to income tax, it is often a good idea to give these assets to charity and leave other assets to heirs.
Another simple way to make a meaningful impact is to consider making a charitable rollover from your IRA. If you are age 70½ or older, you can transfer up to $100,000 from your IRA to any qualified public charity, including UT Southwestern, free of federal income tax. If you are interested in exploring this gift option, please contact your plan administrator or our office to learn more.
Life Income Gifts
You can support UT Southwestern while also providing yourself, your spouse, or another family member, with dependable, fixed income and significant tax savings. By making a life-income gift with UT Southwestern or Southwestern Medical Foundation, you can donate cash, securities, or real estate to support our mission and receive a steady stream of income in return. It's a gift that benefits you and your community during your lifetime.
We are available to help you and your advisers explore how income-life gifts best fit your needs and goals.
