In the ongoing battle between microbes and the human body, bacteria use sophisticated methods to invade and cause infections. Leading a team of researchers, Dr. Orth is working to understand these techniques and enhance our natural defenses. Backed by the latest science, Dr. Orth will break down the clever tactics bacteria use to manipulate their surroundings and our own immune systems as she shares strategies for combating infection.

  To better understand how bacteria cause disease and prevent infection, Dr. Orth works to understand the tools bacteria use to evade our body's defenses and circumvent our immune system. She holds the Earl A. Forsythe Chair in Biomedical Science.
