Professor, Molecular Biology
A world-renowned researcher who studies how proteins trigger immune and stress responses, he holds the George L. MacGregor Distinguished Chair in Biomedical Science. Dr. Chen won the prestigious Lasker Award in Basic Medical Research in 2024 for his work on innate immunity.

Ralph DeBerardinis, M.D., Ph.D.
Professor & Director, Eugene McDermott Center for Human Growth and Development
Dr. DeBerardinis specializes in the role of altered metabolic states in human diseases, particularly pediatric inborn errors of metabolism and cancer. He holds the Joel B. Steinberg, M.D. Distinguished Chair in Pediatrics.

Lora Hooper, Ph.D.
Professor & Chair, Immunology
Dr. Hooper researches how resident intestinal bacteria influence the biology of humans and other mammalian hosts. She holds the Jonathan W. Uhr, M.D. Distinguished Chair in Immunology and serves as an investigator of the Howard Hughes Medical Institute.

Nader Pouratian, M.D., Ph.D.
Professor & Chair, Neurological Surgery
Dr. Pouratian is a functional neurosurgeon who uses brain stimulation and neuromodulation to treat patients with conditions ranging from movement disorders to mental health conditions. He holds the Lois C.A. and Darwin E. Smith Distinguished Chair in Neurological Surgery.
