President's Research Council Honors UTSW Faculty
Donor-funded awards recognize emerging researchers
Celebrating early-career research, the President’s Research Council announced the 2023 recipients of the Distinguished Early Career Awards. The annual grants are given to researchers at UT Southwestern Medical Center whose work has strong potential for advancing human health but may not have amassed the data often required to pursue public and private funding.
A leading microscope designer, Kevin Dean, Ph.D., has developed new classes of light microscopes that enable researchers to visualize molecular patterns in cells and better understand how healthy and diseased tissues function. He is an Assistant Professor in the Lyda Hill Department of Bioinformatics.
An emerging researcher in advanced heart failure and transplantation, Lauren K. Truby, M.D., M.S., focuses her research on identifying biomarkers for improving heart transplant outcomes and creating a repository of biospecimens at UT Southwestern to support transplant research. She is an Assistant Professor of Internal Medicine.
President’s Research Council members support the Distinguished Early Career Awards through their annual gifts.
