Enduring Spirit

Celebrities, cutting horse champions, and philanthropists came together for a thrilling night at the NCHA Celebrity Cutting Event

The National Cutting Horse Association (NCHA) Celebrity Cutting Event brought energy and excitement to Fort Worth this past November, uniting fans, stars, and philanthropists for a memorable evening. Held at the historic Will Rogers Coliseum, the sold-out event raised $125,000 in support of UT Southwestern Fort Worth.

The evening featured a thrilling competition as celebrity participants paired with seasoned riders to tackle the challenges of cutting. Cutting horse competitions, rooted in ranching culture, highlight the agility and intelligence of horses as they separate a single cow from the herd. This event’s blend of Western heritage and philanthropy truly demonstrates the enduring spirit of the Fort Worth community.

"It was an honor to serve as Co-Chair of the inaugural NCHA Celebrity Cutting Event benefiting UT Southwestern's expansion in Fort Worth with Kit Moncrief," said Nicole Sheridan. "I have deeply personal ties to UT Southwestern and have seen firsthand the quality of doctors and care. It was a joy to bring together celebrities, the cutting community, and the public to raise money and awareness for this great cause. This event was just the beginning. I'm excited that our efforts will increase access to UT Southwestern's leading-edge, specialty care in Fort Worth and communities to the west."

Among the competitors were Yellowstone television series cast members Jefferson White, Forrie Smith, Ian Bohen, and Jennifer Landon, along with Lioness series stars Thad Luckinbill and LaMonica Garrett. Other big names included supermodel Bella Hadid and actors Mo Brings Plenty, Brandon Sklenar, and Brecken Merrill. The crowd cheered as Ian Bohen and his partner, Non-Pro rider Elizabeth Brumbaugh Quirk, took home the top prize with a standout performance.

Celebrity guests such as Nicole Kidman, Keith Urban, and Luke Grimes added even more star power to the evening. Grimes, another Yellowstone actor and singer, delighted attendees with an acoustic performance during the VIP reception.

"We are grateful for the generous support from our community and all those who contributed to the National Cutting Horse Association Celebrity Cutting Event. Your invaluable gifts are making it possible for us to build a unique facility in Fort Worth – one that will provide critical treatments and help meet the growing medical needs of the region," said Daniel K. Podolsky, M.D., President of UT Southwestern.

As the final applause and cheers echoed through the coliseum, a lasting impression was left on all who attended. With its mix of entertainment, culture, and philanthropy, the event underscored the power of community to drive meaningful change. Fans and supporters can look forward to the next cutting event in spring 2026, continuing the legacy of giving and celebration in Fort Worth.
