Turning Gratitude into a Visionary Gift
For Billy Rodriguez, UT Southwestern is more than a medical provider – it’s a partner in health, and a cornerstone of his philanthropic vision. Diagnosed with ocular hypertension, a precursor to glaucoma, Mr. Rodriguez sought care from UT Southwestern’s Department of Ophthalmology. Impressed by the institution’s seamless, comprehensive approach to health care, Mr. Rodriguez found UT Southwestern to be a one-stop shop for all his medical needs.

Inspired by the exceptional care he is receiving and the institution’s dedication to
leading-edge research, Mr.
Rodriguez decided to deepen
his connection to UTSW through philanthropy. His gratitude led to the creation of the William “Billy” Rodriguez Professorship in Ophthalmology, a testament to his belief in supporting future innovations and ensuring high-quality care for generations to come.
Though recognition was never Mr. Rodriguez’s goal, his generosity highlights the transformative power of gratitude. His legacy will continue to inspire and impact the field of ophthalmology for years to come.
