Honoring Dr. Amer Shakil: Memorializing  and Celebrating His Legacy of Leadership and Service

For 25 years, Dr. Amer Shakil exemplified the ideals of leadership, service, and dedication at UT Southwestern and within the Department of Family and Community Medicine. His unwavering commitment to the specialty of Family Medicine left an indelible mark on the institution and the countless individuals he mentored and inspired

Dr. Shakil's career at UT Southwestern has been distinguished by his multifaceted contributions as a clinician, educator, and mentor. He tirelessly advocated for the advancement of Family Medicine, fostering a culture of excellence and compassion. His mentorship has been a cornerstone of his career, guiding students, residents, and faculty members towards achieving their full potential and contributing meaningfully to the field. His efforts have significantly impacted community health, forming partnerships that have improved the well-being of countless individuals and families.

To honor Dr. Shakil's legacy and ensure the continuation of his visionary work, we have launched a campaign to establish an endowed fund that will bear his name. The fund will benefit the Department of Family and Community Medicine’s ongoing activities in research, education, clinical advancements and training, and engagement for the good of our communities and families that we serve.

Thanks to the generosity of the Department of Family and Community Medicine at UT Southwestern, up to $50,000 in dollar-for-dollar matching funds will be made available. This match will make the possibility of creating a lasting legacy to perpetuate Dr. Shakil's profound impact and inspire future generations of leading physician.
