Remembering

Carolyn P. Horchow

A native of Little Rock, Arkansas, Carolyn P. Horchow was a longtime Dallas resident, civic leader, and philanthropist.

After graduating from Connecticut College, she married American retailer and Broadway producer, S. Roger Horchow. Together, they founded the pioneering luxury mail-order catalog, The Horchow Collection, often personally selecting products and imbuing the catalog with their discerning aesthetic.

Active in the community, Mrs. Horchow served on the Board of Visitors of UT Southwestern University Hospitals & Clinics and was an honorary Board Member of the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth. She volunteered with Meals on Wheels and engaged with charitable organizations including the Charter 100 of Dallas, The Crystal Charity Ball, Dallas Women's Foundation, Planned Parenthood of Greater Texas, The Sweetheart Ball, and Visiting Nurse Association of Texas.

In 1999, Mrs. Horchow and her friend, Patricia Patterson, established the Women's Health Symposium at UT Southwestern. Their shared vision created a unique event where Dallas-Fort Worth women could learn about current women's health topics and interact with leading researchers and clinicians at the Medical Center.

Following Mrs. Horchow's death in 2009, UT Southwestern renamed the Carolyn P. Horchow Women's Health Symposium to honor her contributions to UT Southwestern and the greater Dallas community. She will be remembered for her dignity, thoughtfulnness, impeccable taste, and exceptional sense of style.
